User Community
The FRIB Users Organization (FRIBUO) is an independent scientific user organization made up of approximately 1,800 scientists, postdoctoral research associates, and graduate students from universities, national laboratories, and industry from around the world who perform experiments at FRIB.
The purposes of this association are:
- To further develop the instrumentation and physics program at FRIB;
- To act as an advocate for the needs of the FRIB user community;
- To articulate and promote the scientific case for rare-isotope science and its significance to society;
- To act as an advocate for the field of rare-isotope science in the U.S. in order to maximize its scientific potential.
An anticipated 1,000 scientific users will visit the facility each year. FRIBUO is made up of several working groups that focus on areas such as isotopes and applications, time projection chambers, solenoid detectors, and FRIB’s High Rigidity Spectrometer (HRS).
